Flexible seating choices and focus tools will help students to move and work in ways that support them as individuals. Students might use a cushion to lean against a wall or get comfortable in open floor space. Lap desks and surf seats are great for working on our rug. The wobble stools are especially popular - empowering students who would normally be stuck in a fixed chair to move their bodies AND work! Research shows that movement while learning is beneficial for students' memory retention, transfer of skills, and attentiveness. When they are able to engage in small- and large-scale movement during learning activities, they are better able to work independently, collaborate, and attend to direct instruction.
