Every student loves to explore kinesthetically and making music should be an interactive experience. Classroom manipulatives give my students opportunities to take charge of their musical experience. Students should be active participants in music class and additional instruments would aid in this goal. Boomwhackers are child-friendly percussion instruments that will give my students many chances to experience and perform music in student-centered ways. For example, my students would use the instruments in mini-Orff ensembles to reinforce concepts we are learning in class. In addition, in my classroom, I will use Modern Band programs with my older students. With the Boomwhackers, my younger students would also be able to participate in Modern Band concepts and stimulate creativity. Thus, developing stronger musicians from an earlier age.
