By building a functional outdoor classroom for my students I will be able to provide them a safe place to learn beyond our classroom walls. Our outdoor space allows for a peaceful, beautiful working environment. I would like to make the space more functional by adding tables. Students will be involved in the maintenance of the space as well, including gardening and upkeep over the years. This project will allow my students to physically distance themselves and work with a reduced risk of illness. An outdoor classroom will also outlast Covid health and safety plans. Learning outdoors helps students develop curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation of nature. This project will benefit students for many years to come. Some activities that will take place outdoors are Nature's Recyclers unit, writing, independent reading, book clubs, lunch groups, and team-building activities.
