The materials I’ve selected for this This project will help my students learn powerful life long self-regulation techniques. I want to create a space that allows them to make smart choices for their bodies, hearts and minds throughout the day. This space will allow them to breathe, rest and regroup when they feel overwhelmed or overstimulated. Many of the children in my classroom have high ACE scores and do not get adequate sleep. I want to create a little safe haven for them in my classroom. Last year, I had a student that would have really benefited from these tools. I made a cozy corner under my desk with borrowed blankets and words of affirmation, but having a student under your desk is not ideal! I want to create a space where the students can take ownership and use the tools when they need them.
