Students learn and pay attention better when they are comfortable. If my students have these wonderful, cushiony floor seats, they will be more likely to listen and pay attention better. I would like for them to be able to enjoy sitting on the floor so we can be “closer” (while of course also keeping our distance). On the floor, students are less likely to have the distraction from the things they have at their desks. In first grade, we have a lot of read alouds that lead into writing assignments, reading to them on the floor is a little more beneficial.
