Our school has started a Culinary Arts Level 1 and Level 2 class. The purpose of this class is to teach our students basic cooking skills that they will need for life. We are a Title I school which means that at least 70% of the student population is on a free or reduced-price lunch program due to financial limitations in their households. We would like to have a chance to teach students to cook economic, healthy dishes for themselves and to be able to help their families with meals and maybe even turn these skills into a career someday. We currently have 2 large classes (20+ each) and an extremely limited amount of cookware, utensils, and consumable resources like fresh and canned foods. We don’t even have an established budget for such an endeavor, and I have been bringing my own cookware, utensils, and ingredients from home and paying out-of-pocket. I could use a little help to make my students' lives better.
