I would like the opportunity to provide my students with art materials that go beyond paper and markers. I feel that students will benefit from creating in 3-D and get to experience a new way to design and cognitively connect spatial relationships. Children need to be exposed to a variety of art media despite school district budget restrictions. Many times 3-D clay art is simply skipped due to the cost of clay as an art medium. As children work and experiment with clay they develop skills that cascade into other educational areas. They have to engineer how things will balance, stay together, look from all angles, and function. So much critical thinking and problem solving occurs using this medium. It is crucial to the art curriculum and a child's elementary experience.
