The story Wishtree is narrated by a 100 year old oak tree named Red. For many years the people of the town have written their wishes on a piece of cloth and tied them to the tree branches. When a new family moves in, not everyone is welcoming. Through the voice of Red and several of his animal friends, the message of inclusion and acceptance is one that will resonate with students long after they have left elementary school. My hope is to spread this message to every fifth grader on campus. This year and for years to come.
