Middle school students are often left out of flexible seating as the day is planned and structured with rigor and inflexibility. Some of these students have never sat in anything other than the standard chair at a desk while at school. Flexible seating has shown to help students better engage while learning in the classroom. My students will also have something to look forward to when coming into my classroom. Being able to offer the student something not typically in a classroom will encourage them not only to want to come to class but also be productive and strive.
