John Green's book "The Anthropocene Reviewed" is a collection of hopeful, human-centered essays that provide a multitude of short, well-written texts for students to explore the current state of the world around them. It is often difficult to find texts that are high-engagement for students who are living during traumatic times that don't focus on the negative. Green's treatment of topics, including COVID-19, provide a lens through which to look at our current cultural moment that is ground in history, literature, geography, and popular culture. The small binders are to be used for student interpretation work in English, Speech, and Debate classes. Students learn to adapt texts, and to perform their stories and the stories of others. The binders keep student work accessible and manageable for performance.
