I am always looking to expand my classroom library because many of my students do not necessarily have access to books at home; they love going to our bookshelves and selecting books they can read and enjoy both at school and at home. The grades 3-5 Sunshine State Reader (SSYRA) books provide an opportunity for my students to connect with characters that are like them, but also to learn from characters that are vastly different from them. Reading these books lets my students have life experiences that they may not get otherwise.
