This year I am teaching a new writing program to help my kindergarten students grow as writers! The program includes special mentor texts that I read aloud as part of the lessons. These mentor texts really help students understand the importance of pictures, sentence structure, word choice, and punctuation. Each unit is focused on a different type of writing such as narrative writing, opinion pieces, persuasion, and fun fairy tales. I am so excited to teach this writing program because the mentor texts really bring the lessons to life! I have taught a few of these lessons over the past few years with some of the mentor texts Ia l already own. When I have taught those lessons, I have noticed a huge difference in how engaged my students are and how much they learn when I use this writing program. Writing can feel like a huge challenge for little learners and helping support this project will make positive impact on their skills and confidence!
