One thing I've found going into offices over the years is they can be very deterring. The first step to becoming an inviting school counselor starts with getting the students comfortable to see me. I have added two very cool ball chairs to this list to give the students something fun to experience when coming into my office nervous and guarded. Another way to help with these nerves will be to feel, touch, smell, and sound. That is why I have added squeeze toys to help them fidget when they are feeling nervous. Every item on this list is carefully thought about between the maps, the drawing boards, and the social, emotional material to help my students overcome the trauma they have faced over the last 2 years.
