The materials that I have chosen will help to cater to each child's need individually ! I provide services to an array of students with various communication disorders. Each child is totally different they are not the same. My speech therapy goal is that "All students receive effective therapy that will foster their individual capabilities, while ensuring that they thrive and are prepared for success." When a child has a communication disorder, it can affect his/her academic studies as well as his/her social skills. One of the materials I included is the "sequencing events" cards. This material would be very helpful because everyday a child has life skills that they use. If a child is hungry and they would like to make a peanut butter jelly sandwich for example, these cards would help. real-life sequences to tell a story. This material will also help kids to improve their vocabulary and verbal communication skills as well as learn how to order events and sort with logical thinking. Although I only have each student for a set amount of time in the academic setting, learning these necessary skills will also help foster into the child in his/her home environment. I also added "Basic Vocabulary Cards". Learning core vocabulary at an early age is very important. We as human beings use core vocabulary in our every day lives. I love how the cards are sorted by themes. This will help the child to better understand where to use that certain word when needed. All materials will better enhance the student not only in the academic /educational setting but also carry over at home !!
