The same richness, diversity and quality of books afforded to the English component of the bilingual program needs to be rendered to the Spanish portion as well. Our classroom library is small and outdated and doesn't encourage my students to read in the classroom. My students will benefit from having access to current, and applicable literary texts that they see themselves in and can relate to. Students will be able to choose a new book to read from the classroom library and these will also be used during a read-aloud in our reading and writing lessons.
