My students love to model writing. Many have special services such as OT. Using whiteboards is much more appealing for my students than pencil and paper for note taking and math, it makes writing more enjoyable. The other special thing about the whiteboards is that they can be used to help differentiate instruction. One student might need help with a sentence starter, while another may just need a word spelled. Another may need a fill in the blank to model form (clozed). The teacher and teachers aides can write on the whiteboard and the student can model that writing and add to it on their paper to the best of their ability. This can be individualized desk by desk throughout the classroom to serve all students’ unique needs.
