These materials will be used to create a safe, therapeutic learning environment for students to learn and practice skills necessary to self-regulate and return to academic learning. The sensory items will be used to help students direct their senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste) toward activities to calm their mind and body and enhance their ability to learn. The ottoman's will be used for our reading corner as well as our daily circle groups where students are given opportunities to share their thoughts and feelings about a given topic. This seating creates a sense of communal safety and openness.
