My K-8 district is becoming more diverse every year. I am hoping to deliver multicultural art supplies (Crayola multicultural crayons, markers, and colored pencils) to every classroom and to the art room. Imagine being a child and having an art project where you draw a picture of yourself and your family, and you can't find the right crayon, marker, or colored pencil to reflect who you are? All children should be able to color themselves as they are, accurately and beautifully. Imagine the powerful message it would send to every student in our school to deliver multicultural art supplies to every classroom and to the art teacher, to have beautiful multicultural art supplies available for everyone? Imagine the power and comfort for our young learners to see firsthand we see them, we accept them, we love them. They are important and they matter, and we have the art supplies they need to show pride in themselves and their families. We can show all students in our building the beautiful shades of diversity.
