Talking about the things that matter most to teenagers can be more easily fostered in a natural context. My speech-language office contains a living room area, a teaching area, and a coffee shop area. I always have hot water and herbal tea available or students are welcome to bring their own beverage of choice. I can't think of a better way to tap into my high school students' motivation than when they are comfortable and experiencing a real-life environment. By equipping my speech-language office to have a coffee shop vibe, my students will be comfortable and relaxed which will lead to more teaching opportunities through natural conversation! The products I have selected will enhance the ambiance of an already unique learning environment for high school students whose voices need to be heard as they enter adulthood. Their communication needs are my primary focus and I believe that creating an inviting and relatable environment for them increases their learning potential. I look forward to instilling the following motto for each of my students: "Everyone deserves a voice"!
