These supplies will be used in class as part of our schoolwide social and emotional learning incentives. Throughout the school day, many students need to take a break for emotional and/or stress related reasons. Helping to create a calming and welcoming environment is key for that process to be successful. As adults we know that taking a break to breathe and collect ourselves is vital. By creating this space within the classroom, you will be helping to set this healthy habit for a lifetime. The rainbow rug is the centerpiece of our calming space, along with the special chair. The autism supplies, calming sensory toys, and coloring books will help all learners find something to soothe their needs and get back to class time successfully. Having this space will reduce classroom behavior issues, and help learners utilize calming techniques in real time.
