Flexible seating allows students to make choices about the environment they learn in. Many of my special needs students have trouble sitting for even a couple of minutes. These stools allow my students to continuously move their bodies and maintain focus. Students show increased attention when their bodies' needs are being met. We currently have no flexible seating in our program. We have increased to three rooms in our middle school program this year and only have standard school desks, tables, and chairs. Our special education funding goes to immediate program needs and flexible seating has been put to the bottom of the list. Your support will give our program the jump start to have flexible seating as an environmental option to support student learning. Students will increase core strength, posture, and focus while using these stools.
