My students have not had a physical education program for over 15 years. They deserve to have the equipment they need to succeed in learning all the movements and skills it takes to be successful in sports and in everyday life. Since there has not been a physical education program in place for a long time, we need a lot of equipment to get the program up and running. Specifically, the balance equipment will help our younger students and our life skills. Kids learn to have proper balancing techniques. Rebuilding a program from the ground up requires a lot of new equipment and supplies. Especially if it is going to meet the needs of our broad range of students, kindergarten through 6th grade. One of my student's favorite games so far has been hula huts, where they build a house out of hula hoops and have to do specific tasks like crawl through it and carry them; we don't have enough rounds for everyone to participate without having large teams which can lead to some kids not getting to participate fully. I also have to meet the adaptive requirements of the special needs students in my school, and some of this equipment will go a long way to ensuring they get the best education possible!
