I am a new first-year teacher coming into a 6th Grade Math and Science classroom. Through this project I want to be able to provide my students with sufficient classroom supplies and math manipulatives. With these supplies, my students will become more engaged in our lessons and will be able to visualize the mathematical concepts we are learning about. Among the supplies I included for my students are whiteboards that will help them work through math problems and also collaborating with their peers. They will also be able to use protractors, dice, decks of cards, measuring tapes, etc., to further cement the mathematical concepts we will learn in 6th Grade. Being a first-year teacher can be challenging and I want my students to be able to start off with the resources they need in order to learn and succeed. With these classroom supplies and manipulatives, I am accommodating to the different learning styles of my students and positively engaging them in their learning. I will also be able to provide them with a positive classroom environment through math posters and motivational posters that are in both English and Spanish. My overarching goal is to create a welcoming environment which will allow my students to take pride in their classroom and take charge in their learning!
