It is proven that reading to students of all ages is beneficial. Lots of times parents stop reading to children as they grow older. BUT it is better if you never stop reading to children, no matter their age. I would love to grow our classroom read aloud library, starting with this book. It feel that it would be very beneficial for the students to also have their own copies. This way they can follow along as I read, and retain the information in the story better. This chapter book gives a great example of growing up, making friends, and accepting everyone for who they are as a person.
