My scholars will learn how to measure the effectiveness of different mask and desk shield types and brands by their ability to prevent droplet transmission. Using black lights, food coloring, and a range of mask brands and desk shields, students will learn how aerosol particles travel, how masks and desk shields work to mitigate transmission, and how different types of masks and desk shields offer varying levels of protection. They will be able to answer: What is coronavirus? How does it spread? How does it make people sick? How we can better protect ourselves? What are some other ways to mitigate a virus? Why washing hands is important? With these classroom desk shields, my scholars will be able to discover how important it is for us to mitigate the Coronavirus. Also, they will analyze data on the number of people vaccinated and not vaccinated, daily infection rate, daily transmission rate, and how droplets infect others. Learning this valuable information will help them to feel more comfortable wearing masks, washing hands, and using desk shields.
