Moving grade levels (from 5th to 3rd), I quickly realized I had no books suitable for 3rd graders at their reading level. My students are already very interested in the books and have already been scoping out my classroom library. I strive to have a classroom library that is engaging, diverse and full of rich content. Every year, my goal is to inspire my class to love to read. Reading independently, reading aloud and listening to me read. After an interesting school year last year, my class seems to have differing needs. I have carefully kept my students in mind while making my list of books, and also taking into consideration what their reading levels are like and what their interests are in order to intrigue majority of my class. I take very special care of my class library, it even happens to be a classroom job. I have kept my students hobbies, talents and personalities in mind while choosing these books, Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and I hope I can add more to the list. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level, while also being able to choose books that interest them.
