I will be using the instruments and materials requested to teach all of the elements of music as well as performance, composing, and improvising. If you were to peek into my classroom, you would see active engagement with music. You would see students using instruments to perform a rhythm on the board, to accompany a song we're singing, to create their own rhythms and melodies. You would see them using glockenspiels to learn about melody and create their own melodies. They would be using boomwhackers to keep a steady beat or perform familiar tunes. I don't want my students to just learn about music, I want them to perform and create music. I want my classroom to be a place where students can express themselves through singing and making music on instruments. The resources I've requested will help me use the materials I already have and am asking for more effectively. Partner with me to put musical instruments into the hands of all of my students.
