Due to COVID restrictions, my students have had to stay in a confined space for a long period of time. This has been difficult for the children emotionally and developmentally. Some of the behaviors exhibited this year display a need for more sensory experiences. The liquid floor tiles will help students build gross motor skills while providing a mesmerizing sensory experience. Students can sit, hop, or walk on these tiles and watch the colors change as they add pressure. The Silly Shapes Sensory Mats have different raised surfaces that students can use their feet to walk on, their hands to experience the different textures, or arrange them on the floor and lay down on them. By providing these different sensory experiences for my students, I hope to bridge the gap between what was normal during pre-COVID life, and what we are still experiencing now.
