I have taken my students' writing to the next level. Instead of creating a school newspaper, my students create a transcript with information that is transformed into a podcast. They conduct proper research, note their sources, and include this into their transcript so they can produce an unbiased and professional podcast for the student body and the community. My students love the idea that anyone in the country can hear what they have to say. The students have started a weekly podcast for their peers where they recap sports, clubs, and what's going on in their community. In the past, the students have used their phones and laptops to record their podcasts. The result is either very loud or too soft audio with background noise. The soundboard will give my students a chance to test their tech-savvy ways and gain experience creating content. The microphones will give them the opportunity to record a professional sounding podcast, as well as conduct interviews around the building.
