In my room, the students are not always comfortable in their seats. They are always moving to try to make it comfortable. Flexible seating allows students to be comfortable while learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times and reading time my students have the option to choose a place in the classroom that works for them, whether this is the floor or at a table across the room. I want to make a space designated for students to have comfortable seating and then also moveable seats to take where ever they’d love to make their choices! Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. Flexible seating gives students the ability to make choices that work best for them. Many of my students get fidgety during lessons and instruction so providing them with fidgets allows them to get some energy out quietly without distracting others while I teach. I know these items will enhance their learning environment and best serve them.
