Picture books will be used as part of our year-long unit on Heroes and Leaders. Students will learn about a new Hero/Leader each week, discuss their noble qualities and make connections. These Heroes and Leaders are often not ones we have heard of before. Students will celebrate the amazing contributions people like them have made to the world. Chapter books will be added to our current monochromatic library providing students with an opportunity to read books about characters that look like them. Multicultural markers help students draw pictures of themselves and their peers the way they really see them.
