I teach life skills classes to 9th- through 12th-grade students. My students learn about real-life challenges and the hands-on activities will reinforce the classroom lessons. I teach contemporary health, which deals with the human body, so the anatomy models bundle, double-sided magnetic human, and the cross-section human brain will allow students to visually see the parts of the body while learning about the body. Students get a general idea about what to expect in life from each class session, but to actually participate in activities that model the scenarios enhances their ability to comprehend situations more clearly.
My students want to participate in engaging activities that motivate and inspire them to be more creative and utilize their critical thinking skills. These hands-on activities like Tile Lock Scrabble and Keva Brain Builders offer students the opportunity to increase their language and reading skills. Special needs students who are in my classes will definitely benefit from The Big Book of reading. The 50 Common Core Reading Response Activities will help me prepare my students for their state tests. These activities will give them the opportunity to work on their reading comprehension skills and allow them to put what they have learned to use.
