Students will be able to watch the life cycle of a pumpkin in read time though out the school year. We will learn about mold, decomposition, rotting, and how resilient seeds are. Our goal is to round out the life cycle this schoolyear and get a pumpkin. We will use old animal cracker containers, regular soil, and a pie pumpkin. We will watch for months, as as soon as seeds start to expose, we will open the container, add more soil, seal it until it's ready to move to the garden (we have a school garden). This doesn't smell at all. An exacto knife with be to cut open the top to fit the pumpkin in, and then packaging tape will be used to sea around the cut, we will screw the lid on and then watch what happens.
