Flexible seating in a classroom is a room arrangement that gives a variety of options to students. Students can choose to use stools, exercise balls, surf desks, standing desks, wobble cushions or pillows on the floor to learn and work. Students may pick a spot based on where they would like to work or based on how they're feeling that day. Flexible seating helps keep young minds more alert and focused, and allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them! Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Flexible seating in essence, reflects real life. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. This seating is also more comfortable and allows for natural movement. The products I have selected would add to the comfort and flow of my classroom. With my current challenge of increasing class sizes this year, I am in need of more options for students to sit. Couches and comfy floor seats will provide additional options in my room. These options will add to the community feeling I work so hard to create in my classroom, and are also the prefect size and style to allow for easy movement within the room. Flexible seating in my classroom allows students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, sit or stand to suit their needs. In other words, flexible seating allows kids to learn as kids!
