It has been proven time and time again that reading for pleasure and for learning will teach students empathy, model correct writing, and improve their creative writing. I also believe that reading books from other points of view will allow students' view of the world to expand. I believe that having these books available will pique their interest: the students will then become voracious readers, all aspects of the students' lives will be improved. I also believe that if my students read at home, that their example will encourage other members of their families to read as well.
