The importance of reading to young children cannot be overemphasized. In my classroom I like to read up to three different books a day. It is so important for my early readers to be able to hold in their little hands a brand new book. These stories are early reader child friendly and written in Spanish. The more books students read and listen to is vital for their future because it builds love for reading and comprehension. A lot of my students have never held a book before, so it is so important I fill my classroom with book their age. One important obstacle for my students is being able to find books in Spanish. Reading in Spanish helps them develop vocabulary in the language they know. Weak skills in the primary language, put bilingual students at a disadvantage in learning to read and write in English. These books will help me create the strong language foundation which my students need to succeed in learning English
