My students come from a variety of backgrounds that are both unique and inspirational in regards to race, gender, and religion. They will have an independent reading session each week on a Friday, which means that they will have the opportunity to choose their own books. It would be marvelous if we could offer them titles that reflect their identities and allow them to embrace themselves without reservation while opening their hearts and minds to the treasures that reading can share about the world.
