As a brand new 3rd grade teacher this coming school year, one of my biggest goals is to be able to supply my students with books that not only challenge them, but books that they enjoy reading. Graphic novels are a great way to encourage and inspire the readers and those non-readers within my classroom and show them that through different kinds of books, reading can be fun and amazing! By having new reading materials, my students will be able to engage in a brand new world of reading in which they get to choose which type of book allows them to expand their knowledge. These books were all chosen specifically for my students in the hopes that being exposed to a new reading genre will inspire them to read more both in my classroom and at home. I am excited to able to allow them this independent reading opportunity that hopefully allows them to unlock the doors to their own deep love of reading.
