All of our students want to learn how to self-regulate and adapt to changes. Our classroom allows students to come in use a fidget, stress ball, do yoga, play a game, or read a motivational poster. It will give them a room in which they can voice their emotions in a safe and constructive space. All of these tools will give students a chance to regain control of themselves before facing consequences from their actions. A refocus room has been developed for students who just need 15 min or more sometimes, to do just that; refocus. The Refocus Room is a beneficial place for all students to decompress and deescalate. The most important part of this room is to understand that it is not just for students who are acting out but for students who just need a break.
