The students have been socially isolated and in a distance learning situation for a year and a half. These STEM kits are tools to bring small groups of students (2-3 per group) together to collaborate on "hands-on" experiments. The students will be social and build communication skills to accomplish the tasks of complete and effective constructions. Problem solving and critical thinking skills are an area of need in public education. These projects will bring students together to plan, construct, test, explain their process, and demonstrate their learnings. By using small group collaboration, it is also possible to practice empathy and tolerance skills in real time. Since I teach 3rd-8th grade, these kits offer a perfect opportunity to create peer mentoring sessions.
