A panel saw in our scene shop will allow students to cut large pieces of wood and lumber in a suitable and safe environment. Currently students are using only 2 saws to cut wood and lumber to build scenery and props. A panel saw not only ensures our students' safety and comfort with woodwork, but also allows students to cut multiple pieces of wood in a short time period. This will keep more students engaged and working on a project at all times. My students are noticeably more engaged in their projects, and student focus shifts from their personal safety to the progression of their projects. The products that I have selected allow for versatility of cutting lumber. Instead of pushing a large piece of wood through a circular saw, which is technically upside down with the blade exposed, students instead slide a sheet of wood through the back panel and the saw, which is pointing safely away from students simply runs down a fixed track system, making it a lot safer for students and allows for precise cuts. A panel saw will positively affect all of our students safety and allows for our students to truly focus on their skills and desire to build scenery.
