This year I am looking to add an art-based curriculum called PicturingWriting. I have taken the training (thank you WRSD and Covid $$) and purchased all the mentor texts from my own funds. I am now looking at the art supplies to support this that the students would use. These are specific consumables that need to be of a certain quality (Prang watercolor sets, etc.) The PicturingWriting lessons are an evidence-based curriculum that promotes student's academic vocabulary, content knowledge, oral, writing and art skills in a culturally respectful way. Research evidence for the program, especially with multilanguage learners, was gathered through a $1M grant and can be found on their homepage. I hope that I can start this program properly with the required supplies and give my students a restorative, culturally responsive, writing experience.
