Learning life skills of refection, relaxing and meditation are all benefits of having a Zen garden on campus. We are surrounded by highways on the edge of downtown and our students need to be connected to nature and themselves. Getting our students to school when their personal lives can be overwhelming can be a challenge. They are excited about working on this project that is a joint effort between math, science, social studies and art. Mental health is so important and has to be in the forefront before any other learning can happen. The other benefits are hands on math. Seeing science in action. Incorporating cultural aspects and creating original art that they will put on display.
