Reading diverse books opens the door to so many opportunities for students and cultivates a love of reading. I chose many books that focus on social-emotional well-being because becoming aware of how you're feeling and why you're feeling that way is so important to learn, especially at a young age. I am trying to set my students up for success not only in academics, but also for life in general so that they can become the best versions of themselves later in life. I also chose books that focus on women leaders, recycling, and holidays since those were lacking in my library, but are oh so important! This is my second year teaching (so yes my first year was the start of the pandemic...eek!) I can't wait to finally be able to read to my students all together in front of me and not through a screen and these books will help me greatly.
