Music is an important part of our everyday lives. It is in art, math, literature, and even science! Help us teach our students that music is more than just something to sing or dance to, but something that impacts us every day, whether we realize it or not! Our goal this year is to show our music students the science of sound and music, and the amazing things that sound waves can do. The materials we are seeking to reach this goal are a sine wave generator, a vibration generator, a resonance bowl, and singing rods. The wave and vibration generators will be used in accordance with Chaldni Plates to show the vibration patterns that sound makes at different Hertz. The resonance bowl shows us how sound waves can have physical effects, such as moving water! And the singing rods are really neat tools to show longitudinal waves, while the tuning forks demonstrate the relationship between size and pitch. We are so excited for the opportunity to perform science experiments in the music room. Help us as we seek to extend student learning beyond the typical elementary music class and allow students to explore sound in new ways!
