My students are the future. They stand in the face of adversity to persevere through these challenges, but they don’t have to do it with limited support. For this reason, I want to bring more Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to my classroom, and I believe a Cricut can help me do just that! On the surface level, a Cricut is a multi-purpose machine used for creating craft projects. But it’s more than just that. This machine helps drive craft projects that are built on the foundation of passion and expression. I want my students to be able to express themselves through their work… through colors and shapes and letters and more. Crafting helps students understand and manage their own emotions, build a positive aura around them, better express their thoughts and feelings to others, and make responsible decisions in the classroom. Whether they make a letter for their peer, stickers for themselves, or other small gifts for their parents, they are learning how to better communicate with themselves and the world around them, enhancing their SEL. In addition to helping students express themselves, a Cricut will also help me make their physical space more organized and inviting. With this machine, I can make labels to section off my whiteboards, make wall art and decor, hall passes, name tags, and more. Not to mention, I can create small gifts for the students to express my support and care for their learning and growth in school. The Cricut is an essential aid to Social Emotional Learning, and I assure you that our students will benefit from this gift educationally, and more importantly, in life!
