Nobody likes to read in a hard, uncomfortable chair in a bright, cool room. These materials(rug and bean bag chairs) will foster a love for reading by creating a warm and welcoming space where only reading happens. I anticipate that my students will eagerly await reading centers and silent sustained reading. Also, it is critically important that every classroom has a private and soothing space where students can go when they feel overwhelmed. Students should be allowed to utilize their self-regulation tools out of the view of the other students. Warm, welcoming, and comfortable spaces are essential for critical thinkers.
