I teach a 9th grade seminar class. The seminars seek to help students with basic skills, among them organizational skills, library skills, and financial literacy skills. Our building was recently named after Katherine Johnson, a famous female American mathematician of color. This is why the set I am kindly requesting, Financial Literacy: Applied Math in Real Life, would be perfect. By reading the book, Hidden Figures, students will not only increase content knowledge, but will also increase their literacy skills. This lesson will emphasize and celebrate Black female contributions to our society. Students will also learn about financial decision-making, budgeting, and the engineering design process. Thank you for sending me a financial literacy kit!
