When first embarking on the journey of peer review, collaborative projects, or any endeavor adjacent to "group work", students may recoil for the idea. However, the Peer Play-doh lesson gives students a chance to tangibly interact with and visibly witness the impact of effective communication between collaborators. Basically, students create a collaborative "sculpture" out of Play-doh only communicating through their contributions. This enables students to see the positive effects of good, peer communication and that ultimately, together, they can create something beautiful. Students will then draw on these skills when doing peer reviews and other forms of group work.
