Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Calm down toys, comfy seating and fidgets are effective tools to give students when they have big feeling they aren't quite sure how to handle. During Daily 5, I want students to be able to choose where they would like to complete their center work. I want them to be able work in a variety of areas within our classroom. Currently my students are working at their seats most of the day and I want to give them an opportunity to move around the room freely. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. My students are also noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers if they are given an outlet to help them calm down when they feel upset or overwhelmed. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The comfy floor seats and the beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The fidgets, sensory weighted dogs and wobble cushions will help console them as they learn to use their words and become confidante in a classroom setting.
